The QuestNet Scam: QuestNet India

QuestNet India Responds to Times Of India's Misleading Report on the Company
(Woman lands in cop net for duping customers online dated Sep 29, 2008)

QuestNet India would like to make the following clarifications to the allegations made in the said report.

Some facts about the company
QuestNet Enterprises India Pvt Ltd is a fully Indian incorporated company with the registered office in Chennai and branch offices in Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Delhi, Orissa and Kochi. The company operates in the Network Marketing industry, also known as Multilevel Marketing (MLM) and has been legitimately conducting its business in India for the last 7 years with thousands of satisfied customers.

QuestNet India markets a variety of products such as commemorative medallions, watches and vacation packages and every customer purchasing a product can avail themselves of a business opportunity to become an Independent business Representative (IR).

Clarifications
The article alleges that an individual named Ebenesar Michael "saw an advertisement of a multinational company offering an opportunity to earn Rs 3 crore a year" and how he registered on the website and the company then contacted him. This is completely baseless. The company has never advertised its business opportunity anywhere in the world as network marketing is a 'word of mouth' business that grows through a network of satisfied purchasers and individuals.

His claim that he was called to the company's office and shown samples of 'rare gold coins' is also an implausible situation. In the network marketing model, customers are always referred to the company's products, services and business model by other satisfied purchasers. Alternatively a purchaser is free to purchase the coins individually as collector's item given their intrinsic value. The referrer explains the value of the product/service being purchased and the business opportunity that comes with such a purchase to a potential customer. Once the person understands the terms and conditions of such a purchase, he then logs into the company's website and registers himself clearly indicating who his referrer is and registering the referrer's customer ID number. It is impossible to register on the company's website without indicating an existing customer's reference. The product is then shipped to him within the stipulated period. At no time during this process, the customer is spoken to by the MD of the company or any other employee, for any reason. If a customer approaches the office with any concerns, he is directed to the customer service team that registers his complaint or concerns and reverts to him.

In the case of Ebenesar Michael, the company's database shows that he was referred by another purchaser from Mumbai in March 2007. Ebenesar has purchased 3 products from the company and has also received commissions from the company amounting to Rs.46,000 over a period of 6 months for referring other purchasers to the company's products.

Product Pricing
QuestNet imports high quality gold & silver products from the 138 year old B.H.Mayer Mint, one of the world's leading private mints in Germany.

The collectible gold medallions are made only with the highest quality standards and under rigorous quality control procedures in the state-of-the-art mint near Munich. Highly experienced artisans and craftsmen create magnificent designs exclusively for these medallions and the product exhibits meticulous craftsmanship.  BH Mayer Mint stands by the "Iron Rule" of strictly producing and certifying its medallions with the weight and purity of 999.9 -- the purest form of gold. Also, the gold medallions are strictly of limited mintage to absolutely guarantee their collector's value over a period of time. Gold Medallions from BH Mayer's Mint are internationally acclaimed as extraordinary works of art.

The pricing of the product includes not just the cost of the precious metal but also various standard and variable costs that includes right from the production stage, artist's fee, costs of craftsmanship, licensing fee to endorsing authority, import duties, marketing & promotional costs, packaging & various other variable costs. Part of the sales proceeds are also given to the endorsing authority's charitable trust.

For example, in Mumbai, QuestNet has in association with the Sree Siddhivinayak Ganpati Temple Trust released the collectible, commemorative Sree Siddhivinayak Gold and silver medallion set a few years ago and part of the proceeds from the sale of the medallion set was given to the Trust for charitable activities.

Just like any product with a high brand value such as Rolex Watches or a Mercedez Benz car, gold & silver products minted at the BH Mayer Mint and retailed through QuestNet have a high brand value for medallions.

Network Marketing Model
Network marketing is a legitimate business opportunity that allows individuals to earn an income that is commensurate with their efforts. This is not a "get-rich-quick" or "quick and easy money" scheme. This is a business model requiring hard work, something that has been made very clear in the company's website.

IRs are introduced to the company's products, services and business plan by other IRs who have availed of this opportunity. The company holds intensive training programs and business development sessions for customers wishing to benefit from the business opportunity where they are advised on the policies and procedures, the business model, the compensation plan, and the proper and ethical practices of building this business.  IRs who take up the opportunity, in turn build their own teams where these sessions are then conducted and are advised to emphasize that the opportunity involves running an independent business and is not an offer of employment and the company does not guarantee any income that is not commensurate with the time and effort put in by the IR.
